Strategic Account Director

At Retina, we enable businesses to tell their own data stories.  We use data science and machine learning to predict the future buying behavior of consumers, and the types of actions that businesses can take around those predictions.  These sophisticated models are then turned into digestible strategic insights and actionable marketing segments.

Our founding team has led data science teams at Facebook and PayPal, built and sold companies, and built the core tech behind several startups. We are venture-funded and looking for the next few passionate team members who want the opportunity to transform the world.

As a Strategic Account Director for Retina AI, your role is to take a consultative approach to come up with innovative solutions to key stakeholders to help nurture their business.  In this influencing role, you will focus on building strategic new client relationships as a trusted advisor and successfully managing the sales process. This is an exciting and critical role as you will be the very first hire for our sales team!

Responsibilities:

  • Strategically build and maintain a pipeline of net new business through qualifying leads from various channels including but not limited to, partnerships; online and offline events including meetups, webinars, community outreach; website; marketing campaigns and advertising
  • Collaborate with the team to create a targeted account lead list by way of market intelligence conducting industry research on prospective clients
  • Proactively arrange meetings involving key client decision makers.  Lead the discovery process by listening, identifying and understanding prospective client’s needs and challenges, and provide innovative and thoughtful solutions.  Close deals using a consultative, solution selling approach
  • Work on Proof of Concepts, pricing, and lead negotiations
  • Drive Retina AI’s value proposition by defining and ensuring client-desired business outcome
  • Generate enthusiasm for Retina AI at customer meetings, industry conferences and other events
  • Design, manage, and ensure accuracy of relevant sales metrics with regular reporting to the team
  • Accurately plan and forecast revenue growth
Qualifications:
  • You have a minimum 4 years of experience in consultative solution selling on net new strategic accounts
  • You have demonstrated success leading account strategy, planning and execution
  • You continually increase knowledge of the client’s business and industry to serve as a trusted advisor
  • You have an amazing skill set of being able to influence, and are comfortable building relationships with C-Level executives
  • You have experience in leading the sales process including lead generation, account strategy development, discovery/client needs analysis, proposal development, presentations, pricing and negotiations, contract execution, and account penetration
  • You have demonstrated success in high closure rate as well as consistent achievement of sales objectives and quota
  • You continually research to stay abreast of competitive industry and market intelligence to identify opportunities
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as outstanding presentation skills
  • You thrive in an agile, nimble and collaborative work environment, and having start-up experience with a tech company is highly preferred
  • You have at a minimum a Bachelor degree, preferably in engineering or technology related
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Visio and other presentation/analysis tools
  • Ability to travel 50-100%
